Finely chop the onion, crush the garlic and mix into the mince with salt, pepper and a heaped teaspoon of sambal oelek. Make into 2 balls and fry briefly at a high temperature to seal. Lower the heat and continue to cook for 5 to 10 minutes. Add a little water now and then so that the mince doesn’t lose its flavour.
Cut the broccoli in florets and cook until tender. Serve the broccoli and meatballs on two plates. Take the (grill) pan from the heat and mix a small teaspoon of sambal oelek into the meat juices and season with salt and pepper. Delicious as gravy served with the meatballs!
