Description
Momentum® Antioxidant contains a balanced composition of diverse antioxidants. This supplement is based on R-alpha lipoic acid, a powerful and varied antioxidant. The supplement also contains antioxidants such as selenium, vitamin E, and vitamin C. The formula also contains grape seed extract, a source of OPCs (oligomeric proanthocyanidins). The complete composition of Momentum® Antioxidant is listed below.
People suffering from obesity and/or excessive food consumption often over produce radicals. Antioxidants help render these radicals harmless.
- Alpha lipoic acid is known for improving lipolysis (burning fat) and optimising the blood sugar level. This ensures that Momentum® Antioxidant is an ideal product for people who want to lose weight.
- Antioxidants can be used on a long-term basis, also after completion of Momentum® Stage 1 and 2. The product is very well-suited to people who smoke, experience stress, are exposed to sun and/ or exercise a lot.
About Alpha Lipoic acid
Momentum® Antioxidant contains a high dose of R-alpha lipoic acid (the natural and most easily absorbed form of alpha lipoic acid). Alpha lipoic acid is a fatty acid which naturally occurs in the human body and in foodstuffs (steak, offal contain alpha lipoic acid). Alpha lipoic acid serves two functions: it is essential for cellular energy production and a very powerful antioxidant which renders various free radicals harmless 2-3. Additionally it helps to ensure that previously oxidised antioxidants (such as vitamins C and E) can be returned to their original, active, form. This ensures that these chemicals work even better and that the antioxidative capacity of the body is increased. Alpha lipoic acid also functions as an anti-inflammatory and helps fight cell ageing.
Grape Seed Extract
Momentum® Antioxidant also contains grape seed extract, which is as well a powerful antioxidant, and improves the condition of the blood vessel.
FAQ
WHAT ARE ANTIOXIDANTS?
Antioxidants are part of a family of micro-nutrients which counter oxidation and protect cells from damage. They can neutralise free radicals, rendering them harmless. For this reason, antioxidants are sometimes added to food products and cosmetics; the antioxidants ensure that the products do not oxidize when they are exposed to, oxygen in the air (think of an apple slice which turns brown over time). Examples of oxidants are vitamin E, selenium and vitamin C.
IN WHICH FOODS ARE ANTIOXIDANTS FOUND?
Many antioxidants are found in vegetables, fruits, and nuts. In nuts, there is a lot of selenium, while oranges contain a lot of vitamin C, and sweet potatoes contain both beta-carotene and vitamin E.
WHY SUPPLEMENT ANTIOXIDANTS?
In order to ensure sufficient antioxidants, it is necessary to eat a wide variety of fruit and vegetables. A lot of people have difficulty meeting daily fruit and vegetable requirements . This can result in a lack of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Additionally, a lot of fruit and vegetables contain increasingly fewer nutrients compared to the past 1, due to declining soil quality and intensive livestock farming, as a result of monocultures (large scale production of a single crop for a number of years). This makes it harder for people to obtain the antioxidants they need from fruit and vegetables.
Extra needs
Because of our lifestyle (stress, sun exposure, smoking) and our surroundings (environmental pollution), we are increasingly exposed to free radicals, meaning that we have an increased need for antioxidants. Additionally, people suffering from obesity may have an increased need for antioxidants because they often have elevated production of free radicals.
Getting rid of waste products
The Momentum® Antioxidant supplement helps neutralise waste products and free radicals. Additionally, antioxidants are necessary for a healthy metabolism. When a body is slimming, there are many waste products to process, therefore antioxidant supplements are ideal for people who want to lose weight and / or follow a diet.
Anti-aging
Attacks by free radicals and ultimately cell damage are associated, among other factors, with (advanced) ageing. Antioxidants assist in rendering free radicals harmless before they can cause damage, and in this way help to prevent ageing. For this reason, many antiwrinkle creams contain antioxidants.
